3/4 Length Thunderbolt 2 Expansion Chassis

Link PCIe Cards to Thunderbolt-enabled Macs Including the New Mac Pro!

mLink R is designed to link PCIe cards (up to 3/4 length) to iMac, Mac mini, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and the new Mac Pro via Thunderbolt.

Big Possibilities - Small Form Factor

mLink R supports a single PCIe card and is the industry's smallest and lightest Thunderbolt Expansion Chassis to support 3/4 length boards.  mLink R features two 20Gbit/second Thunderbolt 2 ports and enables daisy-chaining of up to six additional Thunderbolt devices including other mLinks, storage devices, mDP monitors and Apple Thunderbolt Displays.  DVI, HDMI and VGA monitors can also be part of the chain when used with mDP adapters.  mLink R also provides 10W of power to support bus-powered Thunderbolt peripherals.

Thunderbolt 2 - Ultrafast Performance

Thunderbolt 2 technology enables mLink R to transfer data at up to 20Gbps.  When loaded with a RAID controller (Atto R680) and attached to eight SATA III drives, mLink R cranks out over 800 MB/second of throughput for the most demanding content creation applications.

Innovative Design - Solid Engineering

mLink R features a PCIe x16 slot (x4 electrical) and accommodates PCIe cards such as professional audio/video capture boards and RAID adapters.  A temperature controlled, variable speed fan keeps the installed card optimally cool without excessive noise.  And mLink R powers on and off with the Mac to save power.

The Perfect Solution for the RED ROCKET

mLink R is by far the most compact Thunderbolt enclosure for the RED ROCKET.  And mLink R features two BNC cutouts on the back panel to mount the ROCKET BNC connectors.  Mobile REDCINE X workflows have never been easier!

“The mLink R is of high interest due to its small size and is specifically targeted to our customers looking for maximum portability running a MacBook Pro with the power of RED Rocket for realtime high-quality playback and file prep for post,” - Ted Schilowitz, RED Digital Cinema.

TNT SHOW:"Cold Justice" - This docu-drama, produced by Emmy winners for such series as Law & Order, Project Runway and Top Chef, will follow former prosecutor Kelly Siegler and crime scene investigator Yolanda McClary as they crack cold cases. Production company Magical Elves.
"On Cold Justice, the producers took a bold step in choosing the Red Epic over other cameras for their docu-drama. It was a bold step because they did not stay within the comfort zone of just shooting "HD", but were going for a higher fidelity and cinematic look. Shooting the entire show at 4k +, the initial concern was the turn around time to get the footage transcoded. This is where the mLogic mLink R came into play. Our first week involved shooting over 2 terabytes a day for five days straight. Thanks to the mobility of the Thunderbolt mLink R, it allowed our DIT, Sean Hunter, to transcode on the spot at location. When company moves were required, the entire DIT system fit into a backpack so transporting was a breeze. The first phase of the shoot was Monday through Friday. Amazingly, all the files were transcoded to Avid DNX by Saturday only one day after the first week wrap. We were working with a prototype that worked non-stop and never skipped a beat. We look forward to integrating an mLink R for all of our future shoots." - Tonaci Tran www.tonacitran.com
