Arcadia, CA - September 5, 2012 – Myricom, the industry leader in delivering extreme performance Ethernet solutions for vertical market applications, today announced that it has completed Thunderbolt Technology compliance testing for its Myri-10G 10GbE network adapter cards with mLogic (www.mlogic.com), a leader in providing innovative design and peripheral products for Apple® & PC computer systems for content creation markets including film, video and broadcast.
The high-speed Thunderbolt interface available on new Macs enables data transfers at up to 10 Gbps. By combining the mLink PCIe-to-Thunderbolt Expansion Chassis with Myricom’s Myri-10G PCIe 10GbE network adapters, users can interconnect Macs to enterprise-class 10GbE networks, achieving full bandwidth. These high-bandwidth configurations can be used to interconnect multiple Macs, as well as to connect to storage sub-systems.
Myricom’s 10GbE network adapters achieve extreme performance by leveraging a hardware PCIe add-in card platform coupled with the most battle-proven, high-performance Mac device drivers in the industry. Myricom also offers adaptable value-added software packages that run on the network adapters. This hardware+software architecture allows Myricom to provide customers extreme networking performance with a broader application span and greater adaptability, keeping them at the leading edge of both performance and value-added features.
“Working with mLogic has helped Myricom expand the reach of our networking products with Thunderbolt-aware Mac device drivers,” said Dr. Nan Boden, CEO of Myricom. “Content creators, including the film and video industry, are moving rapidly to leverage high-performance technologies such as 10-Gigabit Ethernet. mLogic’s mLink Thunderbolt Expansion Chassis, coupled with Myricom’s 10GbE network adapters, delivers HPC (high-performance computing) class networking performance to the Mac marketplace.”
“In our mLink certification testing, Myricom’s adapters provided outstanding throughput performance with superior Mac device driver support,” said, Roger Mabon, mCEO of mLogic. “The combination of mLink and Myricom’s network adapters enables professional content creators to interconnect their Thunderbolt-enabled Macs with high-performance 10-Gigabit Ethernet infrastructure.”
